Stamped concrete, pavers, retaining walls, and structural work. Built to last in Middlesex County conditions.
Outdoor hardscapes in New Jersey take a beating. Freeze-thaw cycles, heavy spring rains, and hot summers put real stress on concrete, pavers, and retaining walls. The difference between a patio that looks great for 20 years and one that heaves and cracks in five comes down to base preparation, concrete mix, and proper drainage design — none of which is visible once the work is done. LJT Contracting has been building hardscapes in Old Bridge and throughout Middlesex County since 2014, and we do it right under the surface.
Our masonry crew handles everything from decorative stamped concrete patios and paver walkways to structural retaining walls and concrete driveways. We work throughout Central NJ — Old Bridge, Edison, East Brunswick, Marlboro, Freehold — and take projects in North Jersey including Englewood Cliffs, Cliffside Park, and surrounding Bergen County towns.
As a family-owned business, we've built a reputation on long-term results, not quick finishes. Every project gets a proper excavation, compacted stone base, correctly pitched drainage, and a sealed finish on all decorative work. We provide fixed-price proposals after a free site visit so you know exactly what you're getting before we break ground.
— What's included
Our concrete & masonry services.
Stamped Concrete Patios
Slate pattern, cobblestone, ashlar, or custom designs — integrally colored and stamped while wet, then sealed with a UV-resistant sealer. We pitch every patio away from the structure and install proper control joints to manage seasonal movement.
Paver Installation
Brick, Techo-Bloc, EP Henry, Cambridge, and natural bluestone — set on a properly compacted processed stone base with polymeric sand joints. We handle pool surrounds, patio extensions, and driveway aprons with the same attention to base prep.
Retaining Walls
Allan Block, Versa-Lok, natural fieldstone, and poured concrete retaining walls — designed for your site grade and soil conditions, with proper drainage aggregate and drain pipe behind every wall to prevent hydrostatic pressure buildup.
Driveways
Concrete driveways with proper sub-base, reinforcement mesh or rebar, control joints at the right spacing, and a broom finish or exposed aggregate option. We also handle driveway aprons, extensions, and transitions to existing paving.
Steps & Walkways
Bluestone steps, brick walkways, poured concrete entry steps with proper footings below the frost line — built to code and built to hold up without settling, cracking, or shifting over time.
Structural & Foundation Work
Footings, slabs, concrete piers, and foundation repairs. We also install basement waterproofing wall systems — drain tile, sump systems, and interior membrane — to address water infiltration at the source.

FAQ
How long does a stamped concrete patio take?
A standard stamped patio takes 3–5 days from excavation through pour and finish. You can walk on it in 24–48 hours, but full cure is 28 days — we'll let you know when it's safe for furniture and heavy use. Sealing happens at the end of the cure period.
Stamped concrete vs. pavers — which should I choose?
Stamped concrete is lower cost upfront and lower maintenance over time — no joint sand to refresh, no individual pieces to settle. Pavers are easier to repair (replace individual units) and have more design flexibility. We'll walk you through both options based on your budget, use case, and aesthetic preference at the free site visit.
Do I need a permit for a patio or retaining wall in Old Bridge?
Retaining walls over 4 feet in height typically require a permit in Old Bridge and throughout NJ. Patios at grade generally do not, but we always confirm with the local building department before starting. LJT handles all permit applications and inspections for permitted work.
Do you seal stamped concrete?
Yes — all stamped and decorative concrete receives a penetrating acrylic sealer at completion. We recommend resealing every 2–3 years to maintain color and protection. We can quote resealing services for existing concrete as well.
Do you do masonry work in Bergen County?
Yes. We serve Englewood Cliffs, Cliffside Park, and surrounding North Jersey communities. Call (908) 239-1777 or fill out a quote request for a free site visit in your area.
